Description

Prunus Carmine Jewel is a dwarf bush variety of cherry developed in Canada and then made available in the USA and Europe. Wonderful abundant white cherry blossom appears in early spring. The full sized dark cherry fruit can be harvested in the summer. Yields are high, increasing as the plant matures. The fruit has a slight tartness, and is suitable for drying, pies, tarts, yogurts, smoothies and preserves amongst other things. It is a fully hardy variety, withstanding sub zero temperatures. Good pest and disease resistance. Self fertile. Fruit can also be left for birds. Pruning is easy on this dwarf variety, simply prune in early spring before the new growth appears. Established height 1.8 metres ( around 6 feet ). Plant in a sunny position in a moist but well drained soil. Fully hardy. Plants supplied in a 9cm pot.
