Originating from across the Southern Mediterranean and Northern Africa, hardy Alliums have been growing in popularity for a number of years now. Allium Millennium is a superb summer flowering Allium, bearing large, rounded heads of pink purple flowers, on erect stems in June and July. Like all Alliums, its blooms are extremely attractive to a wide range of pollinating insects, such as bees, butterflies. It's perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border but is at its best planted in large groups. Over the years the rhizomes, from which this plant grows, will form larger and larger clumps. Can be grown very easily in pots. They are not fussy plants but prefer a sunny location and a moist but free draining alkaline to neutral soil.
