Hibiscus 'Red Heart' is a stunning deciduous ornamental tree which produce upright branches and bright green foliage - followed by outstanding large white flowers with a red centre that provide a fresh and vibrant look to all patios, mixed containers, borders and small gardens.
Commonly known as the 'Rose of Sharon', these trees can reach an ultimate height and spread of around 160cm over a 10-20 year period. Be sure to plant in fertile, well-drained clay or chalk soil and position in a sheltered, full sun location to give them the best opportunity to thrive.
Due to the trees hardy structure, they are fairly low maintenance. Light pruning is recommended during late Winter / early Spring season to encourage fresh, variegated growth for the following year. The tree requires frequent watering until it is established, after this water occasionally to keep moist.
'Red Heart' trees are admired all year round for their diverse display of colour. Emerging in Spring with maturing shades of green before entering their flourishing season during Summer where green gives way to bright colours like red and white - these bright colours will carry on through Autumn then due to being a deciduous tree, they will then begin to fade away during their dormant stage. The cycle will then restart.
