How to Grow
Tender varieties of waterlily must not be planted outdoors until all risk of frost has passed. Plant waterlilies in baskets of aquatic soil, with the rhizome just below the surface, and cover the top of the compost with a layer of gravel to prevent the soil washing away.Grow waterlilies in still water away from splashing fountains. Gently lower containers into the water and position them on temporary supports such as bricks so that they sit just 20cm (8?) below the surface of the water. As the leaves grow to rest on the water surface, the container can be gradually lowered to its final depth below the water.
